It’s here! The new version of ticTOCs, the journal Tables of Contents service, is now available. Now you can:

  • Find over 11,000 scholarly journal TOCs from over 400 publishers by title, subject or publisher,
  • View the latest TOC for each journal,
  • Link to the full text of around 250,000 articles (where institutional or personal subscription allows),
  • Export TOC feeds to popular feedreaders,
  • Select and save (by ticking them) journal titles in order to view future TOCs (Register to ensure your MyTOCs are permanently saved).

And more! We hope that you find the new ticTOCs helpful for keeping up-to-date.

What should publishers of scholarly journals know about Table of Contents RSS feeds?

Posted by Roddy MacLeod on November 19, 2008

RSS is an excellent and cost-effective way of driving traffic to, and increasing brand awareness of publishers’ content. So, What should publishers of scholarly journals know about Table of Contents RSS feeds?

Lisa Rogers, who works on the ticTOCs Project at Heriot-Watt University, has written an article entitled:
RSS and Scholarly Journal Tables of Contents: the ticTOCs Project, and Good Practice Guidelines for Publishers. The article was published in FUMSI, October 2008. As well as looking at journal Table of Contents RSS feeds and how ticTOCs is developing its service, the article gives some detailed guidelines for publishers on best practice for TOC RSS feeds. This article should be of great interest to any journal publisher.
